About Lena Potts
I am a passionate educator, strategist, writer, and equity advocate. Growing up in the San Francisco Bay Area, I was fortunate to be surrounded by folks from varying cultures and backgrounds. My life was filled with language, food, and tradition from different parts of the world. During college, I was exposed to the extremes of privilege for the first time, and struggled to find my place in an elite institution that I felt lucky to be a part of. Studying Cultural and Social Anthropology helped me to reconcile those experiences within a theoretical framework. As a K-12 educator, I focused on practice. Working on behalf of low-income communities of color will always be my north star. All of these threads color my strategic consulting work, wherein I find avenues for authentic growth and collaboration.
What I Do
Social Media
This primarily came about by accident,
but for those curious on my takes
but uninterested in reading them, I
say them with markedly less grace
and nuance on
TikTok.

Writing
Many of my essays on race, (pop)culture, feminism, politics, and how to make sense of it all can be found online. Working on a book :)

K-12 Education
With 15 years in education, I've spent the bulk of my career in extended-learning, community-based education. I've worked TK-College, always in low-income communities and communities of color,
context I bring into my
other work.

Strategic Consulting
From school districts to private companies, I'm passionate about making organizations more efficient and inclusive spaces for all
stakeholders. When everyone is
truly valued, anything
can happen.
